The Lord’s Supper Explained When we take the Lord's Supper at First Baptist Church in Carney, Oklahoma, we make sure we are prepared to do this. We want to know what we are doing, what we believe as Baptists about the Lord's Supper, and examine our hearts and minds. A Representation 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 – For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread,   and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said,  “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.”   In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying,  “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.”   For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. Basically, this small meal represents what Jesus did for us, and we do it as a memorial (“Do this in remembrance of Me”). Not everyone...

Praying through the Psalms in 60 Days

Image
Praying through the Psalms in 60 Days Table Here's an idea for something Christians have done for centuries, praying through the Psalms. The book of Psalms is the God's quintessential textbook on prayer. The table below is a JPEG image, so download and use it however you desire. How do you pray? Read these psalms verse-by-verse, then use the words of the psalms to worship the Lord in prayer, praising Him, thanking Him, and praying to Him for your needs and the needs of others. Use this table as suggested, or you can use left column in morning and right column in evening, or any other way you desire. Blessings in Jesus Christ! -dan

First Lines of Every Psalm - Book #1

Image
This week (Mon-Thurs), I will be posting charts/lists with the first lines from each Psalm in the collection of the 150 Psalms in the Old Testament. They will be posting by "book." The entire book of Psalms is separated into 5 books. Book One is Psalms 1-41, books 3 & 4 will be posted on the same day, and I am using the ESV translation. Also included in the list are trends or unique things that stand out to me about the psalms. These trends are cumulative, so for example, Book 2's post will include trends in Psalms 1-72, and Friday's Book 5 post will include trends throughout the 150 Psalms. Before the Psalms were numbered, they were identified by the first lines, and it is still helpful to use this method for a multitude of reasons. I am using it to aid in praying through and memorizing the Psalms. P lease use this resource any way you desire.  Blessings in Jesus Christ! -dan Here's a PDF of this chart. Book 1: Psalms 1-41 (ESV) Ps. 1: “Blessed is the man…”...
