The Marriage Supper of the Lamb

The Marriage Supper of the Lamb in Heaven

Revelation 19:7-9: “…for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His Bride has made herself ready; it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure—for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints. Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.”

Clothe herself? Yes, with “the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.”

There’s another place talking about the righteous deeds of humanity: “We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away” (Isaiah 64:6).

So, how can our righteous deeds be accepted in Heaven?

The answer: Being made righteous by Jesus Christ! “Since we’ve been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Rom. 5:1).

Our sins are red like crimson, like the blood we deserve to share. But like God’s chosen people in the children of Judah, “though [our] sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool” (Is. 1:18).

It’s an easy answer, but quite costly for God, costing Him the sacrificial death of His Son. And our hope is built on this, knowing we will overcome. It’s all because of Jesus, and through Him all “who overcome will be clothed…in white,” and our Lord and Savior will never blot out our names from His Book of Life (Revelation 3:9).

Be assured of this truth, build your hope on the blood and righteousness of Jesus.

In Christ Alone,

Dan
