Pastors I Recommend
Pastors I Recommend Listening to Their Sermons
If you’re in need of hearing some fine preaching during the
week (not on Sunday-please attend your church and faithfully support your
pastor!), here’s ten pastors I recommend for you to listen to their sermons and
receive knowledge of the truth of God’s Words. They are faithful to
teaching and preaching God’s Word, as well as shepherding the flock God has
called them to pastor. I don’t know all these men personally, but I’ve still
had the pleasure of witnessing their faithfulness in ministry and exegesis.
They serve in a variety of denominations, four nations, and three states (four of the pastors are currently serving in
Oklahoma).
My goal in making this list was to keep off widely-known
pastors (so no John MacArthur, although I would highly recommend him), including
only pastors who are still alive (so no R.C. Sproul or Adrian Rogers, but their
sermons are still widely available) and are actively pastoring a local church (so
no one like Voddie Baucham or Justin Peters, even though they regularly and
faithfully preach). Also, pastors who actively and regularly post their sermons
online (so many others I’d recommend if they posted online!). This list is in no particular order.
1. Scott Lee is the Pastor-Elder of Rockport Baptist Church in Arnold, Missouri. He and my father went to seminary together in the 80s, and I believe our families were members of the same church for a season then (I could be wrong about that). Pastor Scott and his family moved to Arnold after seminary and he began pastoring this church then. -https://rockportbaptist.org/about/our-leadership/pastor-scott-lee/
2. James Coates is the Pastor-Teacher of GraceLife Church in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. If his name sounds familiar, Pastor James and GraceLife Church found themselves in hot water for violating COVID lockdowns. Because of these violations, he served several months in prison, the church facility was closed and heavily guarded by police, and the congregation began meeting underground. He co-wrote a book about this experience, God vs. Government – Taking a Stand when Christ and Compliance Collide. - https://gracelife.ca/sermons/ - https://www.gracechurch.org/leader/coates/james
3. Gervase Charmley is the Pastor of Bethel Evangelical Free Church in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, UK. Consistently executing three sermons a week and posting them online (how does he do it?)! Find Pastor Charmley’s messages here. - https://www.sermonaudio.com/speakers/14142/
4. Matthew Everhard is the Senior Pastor of Gospel Fellowship Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Valencia, Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh Metro). He’s also an adjunct professor at Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Pittsburgh, and is an expert on the preaching and theology of Jonathan Edwards. He has a strong social media presence on YouTube and X, so look him up. You can find Dr. Everhard’s sermons on the church’s website here. https://www.gospelfellowshippca.org/sermons
5. Blake Gideon is the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church in Edmond, Oklahoma. His bold, conservative leadership has helped not only his local church, but also the state Baptist convention in OK. Pastor Blake is a fine preacher as well, currently working through the epistle to the Galatians. Hear those sermon here. - https://www.fbcedmond.org/sermons
6. Bill Ascol is the Senior Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church in Owasso, Oklahoma. Another solid example of Godly, decades-long, and relatively obscure Christian service. Visit Bethel Baptist’s website here https://bethelowasso.org, and Pastor Bill’s sermons here. https://www.youtube.com/@BethelOwasso/streams
7. Brett Murphy is the Pastor/Rector of Emmanuel Anglican Church in Morecambe, Lancaster, UK. He and his small but vibrant parish have faced some persecution over the last two years dealing with faithful ministry and vocal, conservative views in the leftward-drifting Anglican communion and the godless-drifting England. Visit the website of Emmanuel Church here - https://www.emmanuelchurchmorecambe.co.uk/, and listen to Reverend Brett’s sermons and other messages here. - https://www.youtube.com/@RevBrettMurphy/streams
8. Conrad Mbewe is the Pastor of Kabwata Baptist Church in Lusaka, Zambia. He’s also the founding Chancellor of African Christian University in Zambia. I may be fudging a bit on including this pastor, since he is fairly-well known. I believe he should be better known, though! Find Dr. Mbewe’s sermons at these addresses. - https://kabwatabaptistchurch.com/sermons/ - https://www.sermonaudio.com/speakers/14437
9. Dustin Owen is the Pastor of Coleman Baptist Church in Coleman, Oklahoma. I got to know him when he served as the Youth Pastor of Bartlesville’s First Baptist Church in the northeastern part of the state. This young man can bring a fiery delivery that will step on your toes. Coleman Baptist and Pastor Dustin livestream their services on Facebook, which you can find here. https://www.facebook.com/colemanbaptistchurch
10. Mike
Keahbone is the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church in Lawton-Ft. Sill,
Oklahoma. He has a clear, personable delivery. If you want to know what an Okie
is supposed to sound like, listen to Pastor Mike! - https://www.fbclawton.org/media/
